So there is this band that I've been waiting to see since I first heard music, waaaay back when I was born... further ago... even before I was born. When I was a twinkle in my Father's eye... my Father who loves this band more than I do!

After missing out on my only 2 chances, once due to my complete lack of money, at age 10, and again when I respected my mother's advice that once you make plans you never cancel them, especially if it's for something else that has come along that could be better........ Which meant I got to spend a weekend away in Tauranga with my girlfriend at the time, and got to see David Gray... That girlfriend ended up being the best wife in the world, so I can't really regret that...

Over a year ago a rare opportunity arose to see them play live in Sydney...
So I made sure that in the 4 minutes that tickets were available I got 4 of them!!!! Then the wait was on... 8 days before the show, the band had to cancel their tour of Australia... Talk about guttered.. Still went over to Sydney anyway to have some family time, and showed Dad around the city that I love...

New dates were announced, which coincided nicely with my brother's wedding in Sydney, so an extended and massively anticipated holiday just got better....

And so it was, that I got to see The Rolling Stones....

Upon arriving at the concert, all I had with me was my 35mm Pentax Film Camera... Loaded with a roll of 400ASA film... As much as I wanted to photograph the entire concert, it was great being constrained by film, it meant that I actually watched the gig, experienced the whole show, and got right into every single song!!!
When Keith Richards started playing "Happy", I knew there was nothing else in the world that could ever bring me down!!!

When you are seated in the rafters, the 35mm is great for wide angles...
But alas you are not going to much else.. Improvisation was needed, so I ditched the 35mm lens and sorted some slow shutter free lensing with dad's binoculars.. Here is the world's greatest rhythm man... Mr Charlie Watts doing what he does best!!!!!

What a show, what a playlist and especially, what an amazing experience to see my Father's excitement as his favourite band took to the stage...

Much love!!!
